What is a Layer?

Layers are the sleep essential designed to be worn under your baby's swaddle or sleeping bag, as part of our TOG-rated What to Wear sleep system. Made from a deliciously soft, stretchy organic jersey cotton, Layers can be worn as either the base layer (closest layer to baby's skin), a mid layer with a singlet or bodysuit underneath, or as daywear too!

Materials & Care

Body & Sleeves: 67% Bamboo Viscose / 28% Organic Cotton / 5% Elastane
Cuffs: 95% Organic Cotton / 5% Elastane

Made from Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certified organic cotton that is non-toxic and gentle on irritable skin. All ergoPouch fabrics are dyed with non-toxic water based dyes. ergoPouch Layers & Pyjamas are reviewed by the Eczema Association of Australasia (EAA) as a skin-friendly product.


Care

How to wash and dry your Layer

  • Gentle cold machine wash in mild detergent
  • Do not soak or bleach
  • Tumble dry low
  • Moderately hot iron
  • Drycleanable (P)

When cared for properly, this product will last several years and can be used for more than one baby. Our TOGs don't lose their warmth ratings over time, but a gentle fluff up in the dryer on a low setting helps maintain the fibre's loft, allowing air to circulate more effectively.

Warnings

The ergoPouch Layer meets all safety standards for sleepwear apparel in Australia and New Zealand.

Ensure you buy the correct size for your baby's weight, to prevent the garment from riding up around baby's face, and/or bunching under their sleeping bag. May be used in a 5-point harness.

Slim-Fit Design

Our Layers are designed for comfort and warmth. The slim-fit prevents bunching underneath your child's pouch, and the breathable, natural fibres help regulate body temperature and prevent overheating.

3-way Zip

The unique 3-way zip system has been designed for performance during sleep. By locating the zips down the body's midline, our Layers can help prevent overnight nappy leaks by holding the nappy in place, and prevent the layer from twisting. The zip system also makes for easy nappy changes and dressing.

Foldover hand and foot cuffs help retain warmth during sleep, and also protect little nails from scratching skin.

What are Layers?

Taking the guesswork out of dressing a little one for sleep, our TOG rated Layers are designed to be worn underneath a swaddle, sleeping bag or Sleep Suit Bag, like a onesie or zippy, for extra warmth. Alongside our suggested What to Wear guide, these short or long sleeve layers are an essential sleepwear staple when choosing which TOGs to put together based on the room temperature. It's genius and simple.

What is the difference between Pyjamas and Layers?

Our ‘Layers’ are simply pyjamas for newborns – 1 year, whereas our 2-piece Pyjamas are pyjamas for 2–5 years. Both styles are made from organic cotton, are TOG-rated for warmth, and can be worn underneath your child’s pouch, or on their own for daywear.

2-piece Pyjamas can also be worn on their own as regular pyjamas in a big bed with blankets for those kids that have transitioned out of their cot.

When is my child ready to move out of Layers into Pyjamas?

Either when they outgrow their Layers (which go up to size 2), show a desire to self dress, or start toilet training.

    Great quality

    Great quality, good sizing and washes well. We find the sleeve cuffs are often quite tight on these suits.

    Poor uncomfortable design

    The zip goes half way up their back so they are laying on the zip and handle. Very uncomfortable and left a red mark are short use.

    Our rompers are designed with a unique 3-way zipper that allows for easy nappy changes without having to fully undress your baby. The zipper can be adjusted to sit at the front or along the crotch area, so your baby doesn't need to lay on it while resting or playing.

    Great for nappy changes

    Love it apart from babies feet often come out of the booties. I also feel likemit doesn't need all those zips 3 is too many. One is enough. The fact that it zips all the way to The back is the feature.
