Everyday Parents Review the Cocoon Swaddle and Butterfly Cardi

Newborns wearing Butterfly Cardi in various prints

We often receive the question, "How will I know if my baby prefers to be swaddled with their arms in, out, or up?" The truth is, you won’t know for sure until your baby arrives. That’s why we offer an all-in-one solution that gives your baby three different sleep-style options: arms in, arms out, or hands up, without the need to purchase an entirely different swaddle. We asked four new parents, to try out our two swaddling options: the Cocoon and the Butterfly Cardi. We wanted to gather their feedback on whether the Butterfly Cardi Sleep Tool is a worthwhile investment instead of spending extra money on a new bag. Here's what they had to say.

Brittany ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

"Our son likes being swaddled, however, he always managed to get his arms out of the traditional swaddle. The Butterfly Cardi allows him to sleep with his arms up & has been has sleeping soundly as he’s not waking himself up when startling. It’s very easy it is to put on, with the 2 sets of buttons to secure tighter or looser. It’s great how you can use this easily with the cocoon if your child prefers to sleep like this. This will be a great way to transition our son from swaddling to arms out. Love this product & would recommended to parents"

Stephanie ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

"The Butterfly Cardi allowed my newborn to feel snug and swaddled, while sleeping in her favourite position - hands up near her face! It is a versatile addition and I loved being able to use it over the top of various cocoon swaddles because I could still adjust the TOG rating of her sleep pouch as the weather changed. It was helpful in settling my daughter, even on a very hot night when she only had a bodysuit, I could still utilise the Butterfly Cardi to keep her comfortable yet cool.
After night time feeds I could quickly and easily fold the wings over her arms and get her back to sleep more efficiently, giving me those extra and much needed minutes of sleep during the first few weeks postpartum. The double snaps provided a snug fit but will allow me to keep using it as she grows."

Fiona ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

"I really liked the flexibility of the butterfly cardi. It gave me options for how my baby could sleep with arms up, out, or one in and one out. I like that you can use the cardi with other swaddles. The cardi is easy to put on. But I also found that my baby is so wriggly that he could get his hand free and out of the cardi. As a result I had to be very cautious and carefully position his hands when putting it on. The cardi washed really well and dried really fast. I found that he really likes having his hands up as he can settle himself by sucking on his hand."

We asked the parents how they felt about having three different sleep options for their baby to choose from and whether they thought it was necessary.

"I found it really helpful. Helps the baby to make smoother transitions and gives you options when you’re not sure how your baby will like to sleep. Make it easy when you are purchasing before birth." - Fiona

"Yes, it was necessary, especially with a newborn. Our first born loved being swaddled with arms in, but as each child is different it was very helpful to try what works best for them individually and for my daughter it is arms up!" - Stephanie

"The 3 options is a great to have on offer as it allows different safe options for parents to try with their bibs, as we know all babies can be different." - Brittany

And finally, the ultimate test, - would these parents buy it again?

"Yes, The Butterfly Cardi is an excellent product that allows extra options for parents to use on young bubs who like yo sleep with their arms up. Also a great transition when arms needs to come out due to bubs rolling." - Brittany

"Yes, I would purchase again if my daughter still showed preference for arms up when she is in the next size. It’s lovely material, cute patterns, and easy to use! The only factor that would make me hesitate is that she is very wriggly and squirmy and sometimes wiggles her little hands and arms out of the Butterfly Cardi."- Stephanie

"Yes, I feel like it’s a very reasonable price and is a smaller financial outlay that a whole other bag that does hands up." - Fiona

We received an overwhelmingly positive response from these newborn parents. The consensus: The Butterfly Cardi is a cost-effective and practical alternative to purchasing a hands up swaddle.
